About the Brecon Beacons National Park

The Brecon Beacons National Park is located in South and Mid Wales in the United Kingdom...

The southern boundary is just 25 miles north of Cardiff the capital city of Wales. Stretching from Hay on Wye in the east to Llandeilo in the west, it incorporates the Black Mountains, the Central Beacons and Fforest Fawr as well as moorland, forests, valleys, waterfalls, lakes.

With over 30,000 inhabitants the Brecon Beacons National Park is a real living and working landscape. For many local people the beautiful countryside is more than just nice scenery, it is home and a workplace. The biggest influence on the area has always been farming. Over thousands of years it has gradually shaped the landscape we see today, with rough grazing on the open fields and commons and a patchwork of lowland fields dotted with farms, villages and small market towns.
